Malabar mushrooms are a variety of Psilocybe cubensis that originates from southwestern India. Their oriental and somewhat exotic name refers to the Malabar Coast. The characteristic features of these mushrooms include their psychedelic properties, resulting from the content of hallucinogenic psilocybin. Although it is illegal in Poland, the Malabar mycelium itself can be possessed for collector's purposes.
What are the characteristics of Malabar mushrooms?
Malabar mushrooms are available in the form of grow kits, which are sets designed for microscopic observation of the early stages of development of this Psilocybe cubensis strain. We offer this and other varieties in our online store Shroom.it. However, this strain is the only one in our store that is 100% produced by us - according to our proprietary method. In addition to Malabar mycelium, the grow kits also contain necessary accessories. Cultivation of mushrooms of this strain is legalized in some countries, but it depends on individual regulations and laws. In Poland, however, it is permissible to possess mycelium, provided that fruiting bodies are not allowed to develop. For this reason, we do not provide information that could be useful in obtaining fruiting bodies.
Basics of development
The Malabar strain develops very quickly in natural conditions. The optimal development of fruiting bodies occurs at about 21-23 degrees Celsius, but these mushrooms also thrive at higher temperatures. Malabar is an exceptionally fertile strain of P. cubensis (Cuban Psilocybe), therefore it gives very abundant yields. The fruiting bodies can be fleshy and quite large. They are distinguished by a relatively small cap, which is set on a long stem and has a brown color. Its surface remains flat until it opens. The stem, in turn, is dense and relatively thick. Mature mushrooms have a slowly breaking veil, from under which spores are released. Sometimes it remains even in the case of fully developed fruiting bodies.
Psychedelic properties
The psychoactive properties of Malabar are influenced by the content of psilocybin, which occurs in the developed form of this psilocybe strain. Apart from this substance, the mushrooms also contain smaller amounts of psilocin. After potential consumption, the user experiences a range of specific sensations. Consumption of this or other strains of Cuban psilocybe, even in small amounts, causes characteristic mood changes, affects the senses, and impacts the perception of consciousness, time, or space. These impressions take the form of various experiences accompanying interaction with the environment. Their intensity, duration, or type is determined by several factors. Besides the psilocybin content in the hallucinogenic mushroom, the age, psychophysical state, personality, and other individual characteristics of the user are also important.
