Polish Psychedelic Mushrooms

816 Views

Polish hallucinogenic mushrooms are native species that contain certain substances with psychoactive effects. These compounds include psilocybin, which has a significant impact on mood, senses, consciousness, and human perception. This substance attracts considerable interest among domestic mycologists, however, it has long been completely illegal in Poland. In our country, the hallucinogenic mushrooms themselves are also not very accessible, as they are extremely difficult to find in their natural environment.

What species of Polish hallucinogenic mushrooms can we distinguish?

Polish hallucinogenic mushrooms are rare, but in favorable conditions, they can be occasionally encountered. However, the availability of such species is mainly limited to the liberty cap (Psilocybe semilanceata), which indeed contains psilocybin and, in small amounts, other psychedelic substances. These compounds are also present in the popular Cuban mushroom, or Psilocybe cubensis. It does not grow in Poland and is illegal in our country, but it is fully legal to purchase and possess its mycelium. Numerous varieties of Psilocybe cubensis in this form are offered by our online store Shroom.it. We offer various grow kits with psilocybin-free mycelium, which are ideal for collecting and conducting observations. You can possess them as long as you do not allow the development of fruiting bodies containing illegal compounds.

Availability in the natural environment

The liberty cap is a species that occurs in Poland, but in practice, it can only be encountered sporadically. Its rather difficult identification is not insignificant. The liberty cap is characterized by a rather non-specific coloration or shape, which makes it similar to many other typical native mushrooms. Similar morphological features are possessed by various inedible species that do not contain any substances with hallucinogenic properties. Accidental and mistaken consumption of liberty caps is quite rare, as mushrooms similar to it are usually not collected for consumption. Mistakes can happen in the opposite direction, for example, by classifying inactive Panaeolus species as hallucinogenic mushrooms. The presence of liberty caps in Poland is mainly due to appropriate developmental conditions, given the moderate climate.

Psychoactive properties

The psychoactive properties of the liberty cap result from the content of the aforementioned psilocybin, which is also present in other hallucinogenic mushrooms. This substance can be ingested, and depending on the dose, environmental conditions, or user characteristics, it produces quite varied experiences. Just like native hallucinogenic mushrooms, psilocybin varieties available in other parts of the world have been known for centuries by various societies and cultures. Mushrooms from this group have been used for numerous purposes, primarily recreational, experimental, or medical. Psilocybe cubensis varieties may differ in the content of psychoactive compounds, which translates into different types, duration, or intensity of experiences related to changes in consciousness, perception of space and time, or sensory perception.

To what extent are Polish hallucinogenic mushrooms legal?

Polish hallucinogenic mushrooms are not available for sale, and their independent cultivation is illegal. However, national regulations do not include any provisions regarding the possession of mycelium of various psychedelic varieties. Grow kits available in our online store <a href="{
