Hallucinogenic Mushroom Species

Hallucinogenic mushroom species are primarily classified based on their content of psilocybin, a specific substance with psychedelic effects. In Poland, it is illegal to cultivate, store, or sell them, which is due to the presence of these characteristic chemical compounds. However, the spores of these species do not contain psilocybin, therefore their possession is permissible for research and collection purposes.

What distinguishes different species of hallucinogenic mushrooms?

Species of hallucinogenic mushrooms are mostly psilocybin species, meaning those containing psilocybin. This applies to various strains of the Psilocybe genus, whose mycelium you can find in our Shroom.it online store. Their sale and storage is legal under Polish law, as long as the actual development of fruiting bodies is not allowed. In our assortment, you'll find special grow kits, which are sets of accessories intended for collector and observational purposes. We offer various strains, including Psilocybe cubensis B+, Golden Teacher, Maztapec, Ecuadorian, Cambodian, and Mexican.

Physical properties

A common feature of mushrooms of this genus is their wide cap with a conical structure, which, depending on the strain, can have a bell-shaped or oval form. Its size increases as P. cubensis develops and matures. An important indicator of mature specimens is the veil with a bumpy surface, as well as a white-brown coloration gradually transitioning to grayish or blue-green. Spores have smooth and thick-walled prints, and their color is usually dark brown or approaching black. These mushrooms are also distinguished by attached gills, which in some cases may slightly deviate from the cap surface. The stem is usually yellow-white and relatively dry, and the veil is white or bluish and muddy. The stipe, in turn, is characterized by a thin and delicate ring that darkens as the spores fall.

Growth conditions

Characteristic features of P. cubensis mushrooms include their coprophilic nature, which means they reproduce on animal dung. Individual strains often colonize the droppings of larger herbivores, including sheep, cow, or goat pastures. The routes preferred by these mushrooms are usually moist, but they also occur in tropical or subtropical environments. Depending on the strain, they can be found in the wild areas of India, Thailand, and Cambodia, or in the valleys of Argentina, Ecuador, and Colombia. Most of these mushrooms develop in a humid environment inhabited by herbivorous mammals. Their coprophilic nature results from the specific properties of animal dung, which contains little gastric acid and facilitates the germination process.

Cultivation

Mushrooms belonging to this species are quite accessible in cultivation. The mycelium produced by P. cubensis is rhizomorphic, so its development can take place on various substrates without a casing layer. Individual strains are relatively resistant to living in a wide temperature range, but they feel best at fairly low temperatures. The highest cultivation efficiency can be achieved in conditions of high air humidity. These mushrooms can be grown on a substrate of <a href="{link_https://shroom.it/pl/pl/12-nasiona_2
